Ken Taylor joined the Monmouth University Athletics staff in July of 2015 as Associate Athletics Director for Development and Marketing. In his role, Taylor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Blue/White Club, as well as oversight of the Marketing, Ticketing and Promotions.
Taylor was previously at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for 16 years in a variety of capacities. He joined the MAAC staff in August 1999 as Administrative Fellow for Ice Hockey and Media Relations and then became the Director of Ice Hockey and Special Events in July of 2000. In June of 2001, he was named Director of Championships, a position he held until being elevated to Assistant Commissioner for Championships in 2004. In 2006, he transitioned to Assistant Commissioner for Men’s Basketball, Football and Baseball before being promoted to Associate Commissioner for Men’s Basketball and Baseball in 2008.
In his most recent role, Taylor oversaw operations for baseball and men’s basketball. His primary functions were coordination of the annual MAAC Basketball Championships and the 40-plus game MAAC Basketball television package on ESPN. He also oversaw officiating bureaus, in-season scheduling and administration of the conference baseball and other championships. Taylor served as Tournament Manager for the 2007, 2010 and 2014 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship Preliminary Rounds in Buffalo, N.Y.
As Assistant Commissioner for Championships, Taylor managed operations for 22 different conference sports. During his tenure handling championships, he spearheaded an effort to secure state-of-the art venues for the MAAC such as the Billie Jean King USTA National Tennis Center for men’s and women’s tennis, The New Balance Track & Field Center for indoor track & field and U.S. Rowing Training Center in Mercer County, NJ for rowing.
Taylor has been visible on the national scene in a variety of ways. He was a member of the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey Rules Committee from 2001-2005. Taylor represented the MAAC on the NCAA Division I Championships and Competition Cabinet during the 2004-2005 academic year and served as Tournament Manager of the 2003 NCAA Division I Men’s Frozen Four in Buffalo, N.Y. and the 2000 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Northeast Regional in New York, N.Y. He also participated on NCAA regional advisory committees in baseball and football. In 2013, Taylor received the Mike Cohen “Good Guy” Award presented annually by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association.
Taylor earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 1997, and completed a Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from Wayne State University in December of 2003.
Taylor and his wife, Sandra, reside in Monroe Township, N.J. with their daughters Katherine and Samantha.
