NEW ORLEANS, LA - On the heels of his eighth straight conference title, the program's highest finishes ever at the ECAC/IC4A's, and nine athletes appearing in the first round of the NCAA Championships, Monmouth outdoor track and field's Joe Compagni has been named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Region Men's Coach of the Year, the organization announced Monday.

 Monmouth's men won their third straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship, giving them eight straight outdoor conference titles between the Northeast Conference (NEC) & the MAAC. The Hawks tallied 255 points for a 102-point victory, with 34 athletes scoring in 18 of 21 events. A week later at the IC4A Championships, Monmouth's men finished seventh of 60+ schools, earning All-East honors in eight individual events and a relay.

"I owe a great deal to my assistant coaches and our team for their incredible efforts this year,” commented Compagni.  “I certainly share this honor with them and am glad we are able to bring more positive exposure to Monmouth University."

Compagni has now earned seven Mid-Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year awards and has led his staff to 47 Coach of the Year awards (27 in the Northeast Conference and 12 as members of the MAAC) in addition to eight regional honors.

Monmouth's six programs, including men's/women's cross country men's/women's indoor and outdoor track & field, have earned 48 team titles while with the NEC, the MAAC and IC4A.
