PISCATAWAY, NJ- Tom Jakubowski (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford/Long Island) tied for the team lead with his fourth home run of the season, but Monmouth Baseball was defeated by Rutgers Wednesday on the road, 6-4.

MU jumped out to a 4-0 lead, with Grant Lamberton (Newark, DE/Salesianum) walking twice and scoring both times, once in the first on a Pete Papcun (Brick, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) double and again in the third when Shaine Hughes (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) knocked an RBI single. Jakubowski homered to center in the third to score Hughes and put Monmouth up 4-0 early.

The Scarlet Knights battled back with two runs in the third before Carmen Sclafani homered to make it a one-run game at 4-3. With two down in the seventh, Milo Freeman drove in the tying and lead runs with a base hit to make it 5-4 Rutgers, and RU added a sixth on an MU error to take a 6-4 lead, the eventual final.
