Monmouth 11 (10-3, 4-0 MAAC)
Detroit Mercy 8 (5-8, 3-2 MAAC)

The Monmouth University men’s lacrosse team jumped out to a  5-0 lead and held off a late rally by Detroit Mercy to defeat the Titans 11-8 on Saturday afternoon at Titan Field.

Monmouth led wire-to-wire, but the Titans made it interesting with a three-goal run in the fourth quarter to trim the deficit to 7-6 with nine minutes to go. The Hawks responded as Dan Bloodgood netted his second goal of the day to ignite a 4-0 spurt that put the game out of reach.

Chris Daly scored a hat trick, while Eamon Campbell, Bryce Wasserman and Eric Berger each added two goals to help Monmouth qualify for the MAAC Tournament and win its seventh consecutive game.

"We showed some toughness this afternoon in how we were able to overcome some stretches in the second half where we were not at our best, particularly in the third and fourth quarters. It was great to see the team respond the way we did after a little adversity and close out the game. It's really exciting to be in the position we are in at this point of the season and while we are excited about where we currently are, we are looking forward to our next game and playing at home under the lights on Friday night."
