WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ –
Monmouth University men's lacrosse senior Nick Hreshko
was named an Honorable Mention All-American by Inside Lacrosse Magazine, it was announced on Sunday night.
The All-America teams were compiled by more than 30 members of the lacrosse media who vote in the weekly Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. It is the first-ever postseason All-America team compiled by the publication.
Hreshko was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and was a First Team All-MAAC selection. The goalkeeper started every game of Monmouth's program-record 14-win season and ranked second in the NCAA in goals-against average and fourth in save percentage.
With Hreshko in goal, Monmouth achieved a number of program firsts in 2017. The Hawks opened the season with their first victory over a nationally ranked opponent in a 12-10 win at Villanova after he made a career-high 15 saves. Monmouth reeled off 11 consecutive victories, including a perfect 6-0 record at home and its first MAAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. The Hawks also earned their first ever national ranking in the Maverik Lacrosse Media Poll prior to making their debut in the NCAA Tournament.
The recognition is the first All-America honor in Monmouth's four-year program history.
