JENNA CUPP AND MALCOLM CHAVIS EARN MAAC WEEKLY AWARDS
WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ- Monmouth seniors Jenna Cupp (Newark Valley, NY/Newark Valley) and Malcolm Chavis (Landing, NJ/Roxbury) have earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Track Performer of the Week following the Hawks' effort at Rutgers last weekend.
Cupp only ran in one event at Rutgers on Saturday but she won it with an ECAC qualifying time. The senior took first in the 1k, finishing in 2:55.95 a full five seconds faster than the next closest competitor.
Chavis turned in a number of top performances at Rutgers on Saturday. Chavis won the 200m with a time of 22.44 and then took second place in the 400m, crossing the tape in 49.41.
Monmouth will travel to the Armory on Friday night and Lehigh on Saturday of this week. The 2017 MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships are set to begin on February 18th at the Armory.
