EDISON, NJ – For the second consecutive week and third time this season, Monmouth University men’s lacrosse goalkeeper Nick Hreshko (Warrington, PA / La Salle College HS) has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon.
Hreshko backstopped the Hawks in their 8-7 overtime win over defending MAAC champion Quinnipiac in the conference opener on Saturday night. The senior recorded 12 saves in the victory and reached double-digit saves for the fourth time this season. Hreshko also picked up three ground balls in the contest and has limited opponents to seven or less goals in three consecutive games. Monmouth won its conference opener for the first time in program history and also defeated Quinnipiac for the first time in four meetings.
Monmouth continues league play on Saturday, March 25, when it hosts Siena. Opening faceoff from Hesse Field on The Great Lawn is set for 1 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.
