LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ –
  The Monmouth University men’s and women’s swimming teams fell to MAAC front runner Rider in a dual meet on Tuesday evening.

The men’s team lost by a 133-73 final and Rider’s women’s team topped the Hawks 112-69.

Anne Skimmons won the women’s 200-yard IM and placed third in the 100-yard butterfly to highlight Monmouth’s individual efforts. Freshman Mary Emich secured a second-place mark in the 100-yard freestyle and took third in the 50-yard freestyle race.

We have some things to clean up in the technical aspects of our races, but overall they showed tremendous energy and spirit throughout the meet. - In the women’s 200-yard IM Skimmons touched the wall in 2:16.49, nearly two full seconds faster than second place.

- Rookie Eric Sorensen turned in one of the top performances on the men’s side when he finished the 100-yard backstroke in 56.39

 NUMBERS CRUNCH

- Yannick Lyons’ time of 23.08 in the 50-yard freestyle was a new personal best for his Monmouth career.

- Billy Lyons also set a personal best time in the 50-yard freestyle, with his time of 23.70.

- Austin D’Angelo set a new personal record in the 100-yard breaststroke when he touched the wall in 1:02.61.

UP NEXT
Monmouth’s women’s team faces Sacred Heart on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. in West Long Branch, while the men’s team hosts NJIT on Saturday afternoon at Steadman Natatorium.
