ST LOUIS, MO- Monmouth’s Justin Robinson (Lake Katrine, NY/Kingston) was named to the U.S. Basketball Writers All-District II team for the second consecutive year. In 2015-16 he became the first Hawk ever recognized by the USBWA, and has now done it in back-to-back-seasons. The voting, conducted by the organization’s national membership of 900-plus, listed Robinson as one of the top 10 players in the district, consisting of New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
Robinson was named back-to-back MAAC Player of the Year for the fourth time in league history and earned a third straight First Team All-MAAC honor, the 15th time that has been accomplished in the conference. He led the MAAC in scoring during the regular season, and has compiled a Monmouth Division I record 1,980 points to this date in his career. He will finish his career in the top-five all time in scoring, field goals made, three pointers made, assists, steals, minutes played, games played, and games started.
Robinson earns the honor for the second year in a row, and is one of three mid-major players in the district listed, along with Jaylen Adams of St. Bonaventure and Tim Kempton of Lehigh. He is one of just two players from New Jersey on the list, joining Seton Hall’s Angel Delgado.
