WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ –
Monmouth University men's lacrosse senior goalkeeper Nick Hreshko
has been selected to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's At-Large First Team for District 9, it was announced Thursday.
First Team Academic All-District award winners advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team All-America honorees will be chosen later this month.
The Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Hreshko backstopped the Hawks to their best season in the program's four-year history. He started every game in goal for Monmouth as the team compiled a 14-4 overall record en route to the Hawks' first MAAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. Monmouth earned its first NCAA Tournament berth as Hreshko registered a conference-best 7.14 goals-against average, which is second in the NCAA and was fourth in the country in save percentage at .584.
Hreshko is a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection who graduated on Thursday with a 3.95 cumulative grade-point average as a Business Administration major. Hreshko and Saint Joseph's junior Chris Blewitt were the only two men's lacrosse players named to the District 9 Men's At-Large First Team.
The Academic All-America At-Large Program considers men's student-athletes from the following sports: fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
