Manhattan Jaspers (7-18, 3-13 MAAC) at Monmouth Hawks (12-12, 7-8 MAAC)
Behind a career-high 19 points from freshman Alaina Jarnot and McKinzee Barker’s perfect fourth quarter, Monmouth earned the victory over Iona on Sunday afternoon, 75-65. Barker went 8-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and scored 11 total points in the frame to propel Monmouth to its second straight win. Her final stat line included 16 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. The Hawks improved their record to 12-12 (7-8 MAAC) on the season thanks in large part to Jarnot shooting 4-4 from three-point range and adding five assists. Monmouth led for 38:18 of the contest, while Iona led for just 1:03. Freshman Kayla Shaw added two more three-pointers for 72 on the year, and needs just eight more to tie the program record for threes made in a season. Over the last two games, Monmouth has led for 77:14, while the opponent has led for just 1:03. The team will remain at the OceanFirst Bank Center for a 5:00 PM matchup with Manhattan tonight.
