KAYLA SHAW WINS MAAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

EDISON, NJ – Hours after being named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team, Monmouth freshman guard Kayla Shaw earned another accolade, as she was named MAAC Rookie of the Week after averaging 15.0 points over three games.

 

In two wins this week, Shaw made Monmouth history. In the Hawks’ win over Manhattan on Friday night, Shaw buried her 80th three-pointer of the season, tying the single-season program record. She went on to hit four more that night, setting the program record for three-pointers made in a season with 84. In Sunday’s win against Niagara, Shaw extended that lead with another four triples to total 88 three-pointers made in 29 games played this year.

 

Shaw started the week with a 13-point outing at Rider on Tuesday, before scoring 18 points in the win at Manhattan on Friday. In Monmouth’s win over Niagara on Sunday, Shaw poured in 14 points to register her 18th game in double-figures this season, and third of the week. She drilled 12 threes in the three games, shooting 52.2% from deep. From the field, Shaw went 16-29 (55.2%) during the week.
