CUPP, MUELLER NAMED MAAC CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS OF THE WEEK
EDISON, NJ – Senior Jenna Cupp (Newark Valley, NY/Newark Valley) and sophomore Kyle Mueller (Brick, NJ/MATES) have earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
“Jenna and Kyle have both done an excellent job for us all season, said Monmouth head coach Joe Compagni. “Friday’s races were a chance for them and some others on our team to work on a few things prior to our championship meets, and they executed their plans very well.”
Cupp led Monmouth’s women’s team at Central Connecticut State, finishing eighth overall in a field of 127 runners. Cupp paced the women to a fourth place finish out of 17 Division 1 teams, running the third fastest time in Monmouth history at the course (10:24.44).
Mueller led Monmouth’s men’s team for the second week in a row, as he finished sixth overall out of 117 runners at Central Connecticut State. Mueller notched the fourth fastest time in Monmouth history at the meet (15:17.4), besting his time last year by 34 seconds.
The two will join their teammates in Orlando, FL on Saturday for the 2016 MAAC Cross Country Championship. The meet will be held at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, with the men starting at 8:00 AM and the women beginning at 9:00 AM.
