WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ- The Monmouth University women’s cross country team was named as an All-Academic teams by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced recently.

The women’s XC team earned All-Academic honors for 16 years in a row and 19 of the last 20 years.

“Our women had a tremendous cross country season, and also did an excellent job of taking care of their first priority here: school,” said Monmouth Head Coach Joe Compagni. “We’re proud of their dedication and commitment and how well they represent Monmouth University in everything they do.”

In addition, the 29 members of the Monmouth women’s indoor track and field team were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, while 18 men (both teams had the second most in the conference) earned All-Academic honors. The women won the 2017 Indoor Championship, marking the fourth straight year the Hawks captured the crown. The conference title was the 50th in school history, including the 13th since joining the MAAC four years ago.

The men’s team is currently ranked eighth in the Mid-Atlantic Region Indoor Poll while the women rank ninth.

“We were also pleased to have a big group of team members earn MAAC All-Academic honors. Our conference is getting stronger every year, and has an abundance of truly great student-athletes.”

The men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams will conclude their season this Saturday and Sunday in Boston at the IC4A/ECAC Division I Championships.
