PHOENIX, MD – The Monmouth University women’s golf team compiled back-to-back rounds of 322 to finish with a share of ninth overall at Towson’s Tignanelli Invitational, held at the par-72, 6,162-yard Eagle’s Nest Country Club. Juniors Faith Garcia (Stamford, CT/Staples) and Erin DiDonato (Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) each inked consecutive rounds in the 70s to lead the Blue and White.

Garcia led the way for the second straight event, firing 77 on Sunday before posting 79 in the second round to finish with 156, one stroke in front of DiDonato who carded 79 and 78 over the 36-holes. The duo finished tied for 22nd and 26th, respectively. Sophomore Haley Goodling (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) took two strokes off her opening round 83 on the second day to finish with 164, three shots in front of junior Sarah Kokotajlo (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) who completed the event with rounds of 83 and 84. Kaitlin Clancy (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) rounded out the Hawks’ card with a second round 85, nine shots better than her opening round to complete the tournament with 179.

“I was extremely pleased that and Faith and Erin shot in the 70s for both days. It has been one of our goals to have players shoot in the 70s for both rounds, so it was exciting to accomplish that feat. We made a few mistakes out on the golf course, which was long and challenging course, but we will continue to take what we learn and build towards the next event.” – Head Coach Susan DeKalb

- Garcia has led the Hawks’ card for the 11th time in her career and second time this season.
- It was Garcia’s 14th and 15th career rounds in the 70s.
- DiDonato recorded her second and third career rounds in the 70s. It’s her first round in the 70s since her collegiate debut in 2014 at Navy’s Chesapeake Bay Invitational (9/20-21/14).
- It’s the third time that Garcia and DiDonato has finished first and second on the Hawks’ card and the first time since Towson’s event last season.
- Monmouth improved from its 11th place result last year at Towson’s event.
