BEDMINSTER, NJ – In its final event of the fall, the Monmouth University women’s golf team finished the competitive 14-team Seton Hall Pirate Invitational in ninth place after shooting a 36-hole total of 690. The event, held at the site of the 2017 Women’s U.S. Open, featured extreme winds and cold temperatures in the opening round which spiked scores. The Blue and White, which shot 30 strokes better in the calmer weather on Saturday, was paced by Erin DiDonato (Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) who found herself in the top-20

The junior opened the event with 85 before dropping four strokes in the second round to end the tournament with 166 and a share of 15th overall. Classmate Faith Garcia (Stamford, CT/Staples) was the second Hawk into the clubhouse, posting a team-low round of 78 on Saturday to finish five shots behind DiDonato, while sophomore Haley Goodling (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) completed rounds with 89 and 86 to finish with 175. Junior Sarah Kokotajlo (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) carded 85 in the second tour of the course to finish with 178, while freshman Nicole Totland (Tinton Falls, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) closed out the Hawks’ card with 183. Junior Kaitlin Clancy (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West), playing as an individual, turned in rounds of 94 and 82 to complete the 36-hole event with 176.

“I thought we played extremely well in more competitive tournaments this fall. Our players have responded to the challenges, yet we still have work to do, but I like the direction we are heading in.” – Head Coach Susan DeKalb
