TRACK & FIELD COMPETES AT FASTRACK LAST CHANCE MEET

STATEN ISLAND, NY- Fresh off of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, a select group of Monmouth University men’s and women’s track and field athletes competed at the Fastrack Last Chance Meet on Saturday looking to hit qualifying marks for next week’s ECAC and IC4A Championships.

 

Sophomore Amber Stratz (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) earned an ECAC qualifying time of 2:54.23 to win the 1000 and earn a spot in next week’s event. Bryan Sosoo (Laurel, MD/Resevoir), who already has qualified for next weeks’ IC4As in the 60m, finished second (first collegian) with a time of 6.76. Senior Maggie Hanlon (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) tallied a PR of 5:00.98 in the women’s mile for a silver medal. Junior Frank Conforti (Freehold, NJ/Colts Neck) also took second, finishing the 500m in 1:05.74.

NUMBERS CRUNCH

·         The event was held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex

·         Junior Danielle Leavitt took fourth place in the 800m with a time of 2:15.34

·         Dean McDonald cleared 15’ 9” in the pole vault

·         McKenna Coakley and Chloe Angelini each cleared 5’5” in the high jump

UP NEXT
Monmouth will compete in the IC4A & ECAC Division I Championships hosted by Boston University next Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
