BLAMON AND GUERRIERO EARN MAAC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD HONORS
EDISON, NJ – Senior Faith Blamon (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and freshman Peter Guerriero (Lyndhurst, NJ/Lyndhurst) have been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Performers of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
Blamon earns her second straight weekly honor while Guerriero picks up his first outdoor weekly honor. The freshman won his first weekly award during indoor season. The duo propelled Monmouth to first place finishes at the 22nd Annual Monmouth University Season Opener last weekend. The men’s team is undefeated at home since 1996 and the women have not lost since 2001 in West Long Branch.
Blamon won the women’s javelin throw with a toss of 45.48 meters. The throw qualified her for ECAC/IC4A’s later in the year, and was more than four meters from the next closest thrower. Blamon took the gold in a field of 26 total athletes.
Guerriero picked up two wins at the 22nd Annual Monmouth Season Opener. In the men’s 100-meter dash, he shared the win with teammate Bryan Sosoo, as they both finished in 10.86 to best 43 other athletes. Guerriero also won the men’s 200-meter dash in a field of 74 with a time of 22.05.
Blamon, Guerriero, and their teammates will compete at the Colonial Relays this weekend. The teams will travel to Williamsburg, VA from Thursday, March 30 to Saturday, April 1.
